Basant is not a festival of any one religion or community. It has been celebrated in India since centuries at the end of winters during harvest season when the colourful flowers bloom. This colourfully-illustrated short book in Hindi celebrates the spirit of Sufi folk culture of Basant and our shared traditions through history, literature and art.

The author, Yousuf Saeed, is a Delhi-based author and filmmaker who has been exploring shared culture and art of South Asia through his documentary films and writings since 1990. You may have seen his 1997 short film Basant on youtube.com
